The ThermIIC Setup window

The ThermIIC Setup window

This window controls the operation of ThermIIC. The sections are:

Click on Save setup to remember the current settings for the next time ThermIIC is run.

Sensor setup

Up to 8 DS1624 sensors can be addressed by the I2C interface. Each sensor has a slave address set by a 3-digit binary code. The value of this code may be from 0 to 7. This corresponds to the sensor number shown in the setup window. Use the up/down arrow heads to select your sensor. To make a sensor active tick the On option.

The Max/Min part of the Sensor setup area controls the graphical bar in the temperatures window. The values entered set the temperatures corresponding to the extreme left and right of the bar. The values are also shown in the temperatures window if Full display is selected.

If Track is ticked Max and Min will be pulled up or pushed down when temperature meets range limits. This can be used as a Max/Min temperature display. Click Reset to set the range to the smallest possible for the current temperature.

The Alarm section has entries for Low and High alarm points. When the temperature exceeds either of these limits an alarm condition will be triggered. The iconbar icon will turn amber. The numerical icon in the main display will turn blue for a low temperature alarm, or red for high temperature. If Sound is ticked there will also be an audible alarm.

Logging

ThermIIC can save temperature data to a log file. Data are saved in comma separated value (CSV) format. A group of three radio button sets how ThermIIC logs:

No logging
Logging is off
Daily file
A new file is started at 0:00 UT each day. Drag the directory icon or type a valid directory name to set the destination directory. ThermIIC will create a directory of the form yymm inside this directory, for the current month. New directories are created as required. The file names for CSV files are of the form yymmdd, created inside the month directory. Hit return or click Start to commence logging.
One file
Data are logged continuously to one file. Drag the CSV file icon or type a file name to set the destination. Hit return or click Start to commence logging.

The Log time (s) entry shows the logging interval, in seconds. Usually you would set this to a value higher than the update time. Then several temperatures will be read and averaged to give a log entry.

Finally, there is an icon showing Off or On, reflecting the current logging state.
