A Battery backed up Real Time Clock card for the RaspberryPi Model A, A+, B, B+, Pi2 and Compute Module.
Thinner than our own best-selling RTC, this allows you to fit the RTC as well as other peripherals to the GPIO pins without needing longer pass-thru pins.
The shim relies on a friction fit for contact and should be fitted once and never removed. If it is removed then to make reliable electrical contact the shim may need to be soldered to the Pi's GPIO pins. n.b. only the 3.3V, 0V, SDA and SCL lines are used by the RTC, but all lines are passed through by the shim.
Physical installation: Plugs into the GPIO pins. Fits within the footprint of the Raspberry Pi's PCB and is lower than the double USB socket so should fit into almost any case apart from the layered PiBow type. See photo for how the RTC fits on the Pi. Setting up software support in Rasbian is the same as for our own RTC fitting instructions.
